Regular Member Conferences

As part of your EALC membership, you’ll have access to regular conferences designed to support you in your role and help you thrive in the workplace. Our conferences provide valuable opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge, share experiences, explore workplace challenges and connect with fellow members and industry professionals. Whether you’re looking to gain new insights, build your professional network or learn practical ways to enhance your work, EALC’s regular conferences are designed with you in mind.

Martyn's Law Conference - July 2026

Back in July we hosted a Martyn's Law Conference at the Ivy Hill Hotel. We heard from Helen Ball (Town Clerk to Shrewsbury Town Council, Vice Chair of SLCC and joint Chair of the NALC/SLCC Martyn's Law Steering Group) and Kevin Roberts (Managing Director of SL Consultants - Local Security Specialists). The event developed understanding of the Martyn's Law legislation and whether premises were within scope, discussed how to prepare risk assessments, what to do in the event of a terror attack and included informative practical workshops.

HR Conference - September 2026

Over 60 Clerks, Councillors and Chairs attended our HR Conference at the Public Hall in Witham on 28th September. Speakers included Becky Walsh (Council Culture), Joe Cheal (Imaginarium) and Christian Vincent (WorkNest). The Conference covered important HR topics and included an open panel section where delegates could ask questions or raise any issues.

Wellbeing Event - March 2027

The 28th March will see us host our first Wellbeing Event at Wat Tyler Country Park. This free event (EALC Members) will include talks from Mind Essex, ECC and local community groups. There will also be the opportunity to try out some wellbeing activities and hear from councils what they are doing to improve the wellbeing of local residents in their parishes.

”Excellent training, I look forward to attending more in the future, on a variety of subjects to help with the role of the Councillor and Chairperson.”
