Supporting local town and parish councils within Essex

Who we are

The Essex Association of Local Councils is a member-led, non-profit organisation that supports local Town and Parish councils within Essex. Affiliated with the National Association of Local Councils, our role is to guide and support our members to enhance their council to work to their full potential, serving their local communities. Our address is: First Floor Offices, Room 2 & 3, RCCE House, Threshelfords Business Park, Inworth Road, Feering, Colchester, Essex, CO5 9SE.

Partnership Working

We liaise successfully with various partnerships and committees within Essex to grow every aspect within the Local Council sector, attending regular meetings and conferences.

Member-Led Governance

The EALC is a Member led body, governed by its Constitution, Standing Orders, Financial Regulations, Internal Controls and Treasury Management policies, serving the needs of the Local Councils in Membership. The staff are directed by an Executive Committee which oversees the work of the EALC. The Committee comprises of Executive Members elected by the District Association’s of Local Councils. The Committee meet six times a year.

Membership and Affiliation

We campaign on behalf of our members, raise awareness of their work and provide them with a range of services to support their needs.

These services include lobbying both regional and national government providing up-to-date advice on national and legal developments, and sharing good practice between specific local council networks in a range of service areas.
